Causes of Hair Loss |
|
Hair loss, in both men and women, can be a difficult matter to face. Most of the time, the individuals who are dealing with hair loss focus solely on the prevention/treatment of hair loss rather than the origin, which may aid in the prevention/treatment of hair loss. Although hair loss causes vary from person to person, there are a few main factors that cause hair loss, such as heredity and aging. In men, the most common causes of hair loss are heredity, hormones and aging. These contribute to the potential for men to lose hair. In women, some common causes of hair loss include poor circulation, hormonal changes after menopause or having a baby, and poor diet. A few other causes of hair... |

Hair Loss - What Causes It? |
|
Hair loss. What causes it? I mean, one day it's on your head and the next day it's gone. Did gremlins sneak into your room in the middle of the night and cut it off? At any given point in time about 10% of the hair on your head is asleep. After about 2 or 3 months, this resting hair (yes, it takes long naps) falls out and new hair takes it's place. The hair grows at a rate of about 1 centimetre per month. Not very fast. It is normal to experience some hair loss on a daily basis. But some men and women experience what is... |

Hair Loss: Know The Cause, Know The Cure
Author:
Daniel Loh
Don’t you envy those young men in the streets with full heads of hair? Hair has always been considered a man’s crowning glory, while hair loss has been regarded as signs of ageing and unattractiveness.
So, losing hair has always been a problem for many men.
Well, it no longer has to be a problem! If you know your hair problem, you can find out the cure easily. In this article, I hope to present to you the major causes of hair loss, and the things that you should do if you have such a problem.
Of course, you may also want to take a look at my book: http://www.myhealthweekly.com/presents/hairloss/
Cause 1: Genetic Balding This is seen in men and women alike, and this constitutes the majority of cases of hair loss. The most commonly used cure is treatment with 2% topical minoxidil. However, only around 30% of users show noticeable improvement, and stopping the use of the drug might result in loss of the newly grown hair. When 0.05% retinoic acid solution is added however, a higher percentage of users show moticeable improvement. Consult your doctor about using these drugs.
Cause 2: Fungal Infection Fungal infection often causes patchy hair loss, and red scalp, scaling (dandruff) and pus is often seen. This type of infection can be easily treated with a few months’ course of anti-fungal agents, used simultaneously with anti-fungal shampoo.
Cause 3: Major illness/surgery After you have undergone a major illness or surgery, you might experience this type of hair loss. This type of hair loss can also follow stress or childbirth. However, such hair loss is temporary, and hair will regrow in a matter of months.
Cause 4: Drugs There are various drugs that can cause hair loss, such as vitamin A, chemotherapy, blood thinners, and thyroid medication. However, hair will also regrow soon after the discontinuation of the drug. Alternative medication can be prescribed by the doctor if this is the cause of hair loss.
In conclusion, hair loss, though distressful, is not life threatening. Medication provided by the doctor can solve most of the problems, and in severe cases, a local injection onto the scalp will cause hair to grow back.

What! Female Hair Loss Treatments! |
|
Many people think that hair loss is a male problem, but it is one that many females suffer from as well. Hair loss is a very traumatic experience for a woman, even though it perfectly natural to lose your hair as you get older. When young women start to experience hair loss, they start to research the kinds of female hair loss treatments that are available to them. The treatment they find depends on what is causing the hairloss to occur in the first place. Some of the causes may be stress or hormonal changes. In these cases the doctor can easily prescribe female hair loss treatments that have nothing to do with hair growth. New hair loss treatments are coming on the market all the time, but their validity has yet to be determined. Scientists will tell you that many of the so-called new hair loss treatments may not work for you. Since every person is unique and the reasons for hair loss vary from person to person, there are no one kind of female hair loss treatments that work for everybody. With the doctor prescribed hair loss treatments for women, the one that has had the most success is a topical solution containing 2% Minoxodil. New hair loss treatments containing higher percentages are still being tested to see if they are suitable for females to use. Female hairloss treatments sometimes vary to male hair loss treatments. Another of the new hair loss treatments available for men is a hair growth pill. This is not being considered as one of the female hair loss treatments because of the possibility that it may cause birth defects. Pregnant or nursing mothers should never use the prescribed treatments for hair loss because it is not known what effect it could have on an unborn or newborn baby. Many women are turning to aromatherapy as female hairloss treatments.... |
