Case Study in Hair Loss

Many factors can cause hair loss, including stress, environment, medication, health, diet and other factors. Hair loss does not generally happen over night, yet over a period of time.

Clients with noticeably thinning hair feel and complain about styling challenges due to the hair becoming finer and scalp concerns in varying ways: they've changed they way the style their hair, their scalp is tight or dry or has excessive oiliness, their scalp itches and for some, they see a gradual loss of hair density. And the market place is waking up to the importance of the scalp health. Taking care of the scalp environment is important to healthy-looking hair.

At Hair Resources we have decided to do a hair product review of the Nioxin line for thinning hair. We choose Nioxin because of its popularity online and in many hair loss forums.

What is Nioxin?

For our product review, we have chosen a male subject, 46 years old, and experiencing approximately 30-50% hair loss. His hair is very fine, so we selected the NIOXIN 2- a 3-part system for fine hair with no color processing.

Part 1 - NIOXIN CleanserTM

Removing environmental residue and DHT from the scalp hair helps to improve the oxygen and nutrient uptake and helps to manage excessively oily or dry and itchy scalp skin conditions.

Saturate the scalp and hair with comfortably hot water. Create a rich lather in the hands and begin gently massaging into the forehead, temples, slowly moving your way back towards the nape and into the ends of the hair. Leave for 1 minute and rinse clean with warm to comfortably hot water.

Part 2 - NIOXIN Scalp TherapyTM

Hydrating the scalp helps to soothing scalp tension.

Paying close attention to hairline, temples, nape and thinning areas, gently massage onto the scalp and the length of hair. Leave product on one to three minutes. Rinse clean with warm to comfortably hot water, blot dry with a towel. Apply Follicle Booster® directly to the scalp skin in noticeably thinning areas and leave-in. This intensive leave-in booster with exfoliating properties increases cellular turnover through exfoliation of dead skin cells.

Part 3 - NIOXIN Scalp TreatmentTM

Providing moisturizing nourishment for the scalp and hair through essential oils, nutrients and antioxidant vitamins helps to soothe the stressed scalp skin.

Apply NIOIXN Scalp TreatmentTM throughout the scalp and length of hair and leave-in. This vitamin enriched formula helps to safeguard against environmental residue and DHT build-up on the scalp.
